Directions to Lake Audubon 2070 Twin Branches Rd[Reston]
From the Beltway I-495, Take
Dulles Toll Rd, VA-267 West, exit #12B
Travel approximately 5 miles
Take the
Hunter Mill Rd exit #14
Turn Left onto
Hunter Mill Rd
At the Light, Turn Right onto
Sunrise Valley Drive
Travel 9/10 of a mile
At the Light, Turn
Left onto South Lakes Drive
Travel 3/10 of a mile
At the First Light, Turn
Left onto Twin Branches Rd.
Travel approximately ½ mile, Lake Audubon will be on your Right

Directions to Lake Fairfax [Reston] many of our courses start at Lake Fairfax. They have camping and motels are not too far go here for details
From I-495 take the Dulles Toll Road, VA-267 West, exit #12B, towards Dulles Airport.
Take the VA-7/Leesburg Pike exit, exit number 16, towards Tyson's Corner/Leesburg.
Keep RIGHT at the fork in the ramp.
Merge onto Leesburg Pike, Travel approximately 4.5 miles
Turn LEFT on to Baron Cameron Avenue at the Light, travel 1/3 of a mile
Turn Left onto Lake Fairfax Drive

Directions to Chesapeake Bay Foundations Merril Center,
6 Herndon Ave, Annapolis, MD.21403-4503
Rt. 50 towards Annapolis take Aris T. Allen Blvd. exit 22 toward Riva Rd.
Stay on this road until the Forest Drive exit. Forest becomes Bay Ridge Rd stay on it until the right turn onto Herndon Ave to a right at the CBF sign. Take it SLOW on the CBF drive. Parking at visitor sign. We usually can unload behind the center by staying right on the drive past the parking lot. SLOW.

Directions to Mason Neck Park [kanes Creek & other trips]   
Rt 95 south to Lorton exit 163, signs also read Pohick Bay Park and Gunston Hall.
Turn left off the exit to Armistead street (you will see signs) directing you to turn right onto Rt 1(Richmond Hwy).Richmond Hwy to left onto Rt 242 (Gunston Rd) and follow signs to the Park [note that on the left you pass the entrance to Pohick Bay]and car top boat launch.
Rt.123 or Fairfax Co.Parkway are two alternate routes.

Directions to Anglers Inn , [also Carderock & Great Falls, all on the Potomac]
Beltway in either direction to exit 41 [exits are just on the east side of the American Legion Bridge over the Potomac]

xit onto Clara Barton Parkway. Head North. [Note you go right past the Carderock entrance on the way to Anglers].
At the 1st stop sign turn left onto Macarthur Blvd. Anglers parking areas are on your left about  a mile. There is an upper and lower lot. Note that if you go past Anglers about a mile up a twisty hill, you come to the entrance to Great falls Park MARYLAND. There is also a Great Falls Park on the VA side of the River.

Directions to Violet's Lock and Riley's Lock [Potomac]:
Beltway in either direction to River Rd, exit 39. Follow River Rd. North  about 11 miles. Violets Lock Rd is on your left. If you go too far, River Rd. dead ends [comes to a "T"] at Seneca Rd. Turn around and go back about 1/5 mile to Violet's. It will now be the first turn on your right. If you take a left at the "T"  with Seneca Rd. in about 1/3 mile you come to Riley's Lock Rd. on your left. Follow that left until it ends at the Potomac where there is a parking area. Note that River Rd. parallels the Potomac. Any road to the West gets you to the river. On your left as you go the 11 miles to Violet's you pass: Seven Locks Rd.[ which takes you very close to Carderock & Anglers], Falls Rd. in Potomac which takes you to Great Falls and Anglers, Swains Lock , Penny field Lock , then Violet's ,Then Riley's.

1. Take River Road (Rt. 190 exit 39) off rt. 495 through Potomac cross Falls Rd. and go 7 more miles to the intersection with Seneca Road (Rt. 112).
2. It's a "T" intersection and River Road takes a 90 degree left at this intersection.Take that left. 
3. Then Take your next left onto Riley's Lock Road, the creek will be on your right and follow to almost the end...A parking lot on your left immediately across from the boat ramp.  

 

Valley Mill, 15101 Seneca Rd, Darnestown, MD, 20874

From I-270 and points East or North
Take exit 6b from I-270 onto Rte 28 west (West Montgomery Ave). Follow Rte 28 west for about 15 minutes (its name changes to Darnestown Rd.) You will reach a stoplight where Seneca Rd. (Rte 112) intersects from the left. There will be a Texaco on the left and a Food lion Supermarket on the right. Turn left onto Seneca Rd. After about 2 miles there will be a large dip in the road and a curve to the right. Immediately after the dip and curve, there will be a wooden sign with white lettering for Valley Mill Camp. Turn right into the gravel lot and park.
From the Beltway (495) and points South or West
 
Take exit 39 from 495 onto River Rd (Rte 190) west. Follow River Rd for 15-20 minutes until it dead-ends at a T-intersection with a stop sign. Turn right onto Seneca Rd (Rte. 112). About 7/10 of a mile on the left will be a wooden sign with white lettering for Valley Mill Camp. Turn left into the gravel lot and park.

 

Directions to Galesville- On the Chesapeake:
Directions to Galesville. 495 Beltway in either direction to  to MD Rt. 4 ,  Pennsylvania Ave South/East, pass over 301 and exit at sign "East 258 to East 259, Bristol, Deale following the exit ramp over RT.4 and staying on 258 and after 2 miles after passing Rt. 2 note Parks Citgo on the left, .2 mi. after Parks turn left onto Swamp Circle Rd. to the end and turn left onto Muddy Creek Rd. Go 2.5 miles to 255 Galesville Rd and turn right to the water then left to see the parking lot and porta-john. Limited parking so you may need to unload and move the car onto the street.

Directions to Antietam Creek: - Directions from Washington. Take I 270 North. At Frederick pick up I 70 (west). (if you stay in the right lanes, I 270 turns into I 70) Follow I 70  past the Rt. 340 turn off, to the Middletown, Braddock Heights exit (#49) where you pick up Alt 40 west, by turning left at the exit light. Follow Alt 40 through Middletown over South Mountain and through Boonsboro. Take a left at Rt. 68 [there's an Exxon station on the right, just before the turn;  ] Follow rt. 68 about 3 miles. The first creek you cross is Beaver Creek. Antietam Creek is on your left. When you cross Antietam Creek (the second bridge on Rt. 68 - it's the same one Jackson used on his way to Harper's Ferry), take an immediate left into  gravel parking area. The put-in is right across the street from the Devil's Backbone Park. The whole trip from Washington is 50 Very pretty miles from the beltway.

Directions to Algonkian Regional Park - No. VA.

Coming From Maryland on  495:
 
Cross the Potomac River at Cabin John Bridge
 
Take the first exit to the right immediately after you cross the bridge for Rt. 193 West (Georgetown Pike).  Go straight on exit ramp to get to Rt. 193, don't make a hard right onto GW Parkway.  Follow Rt. 193 West until it blends into Rt. 7 West at a traffic light ( about a 20 minute ride on Rt. 193.)
 
Go about 1/4 mile and turn right onto Algonkian Parkway going North (if you go under the overpass you just missed it).  Follow Algonkian Parkway for  4 miles.   Stay in the right lane.  At about the 4 mile mark you will see a large church on your left.  Turn right at the traffic light just past the church onto Cascades Parkway.  This road takes you into Algonkian Park.  Follow the road as it winds to the right around the golf course for about 1 mile and it will dead-end at a stop sign.  Turn left at the stop sign and you enter a large parking lot on the bank of the Potomac.  Cross the parking lot to the boat ramp and look for   kayaks.
 
Coming from Virginia on 495
 
Take Rt. 7 West towards Leesburg.  It's about a 15 minute drive out Rt. 7 ( approximately 10 miles) before you reach the traffic light at the intersection with Rt. 193.  From this point, go another 1/4 mile and turn right on Algonkian Parkway North and follow the directions above.
 
Coming from the West on Route 7 ["Directions from Leesburg".]
 
Take Rt. 7 east towards Tyson's Corner and go past Rt. 28.
Just past Rt. 28 exit to the right onto the ramp for Algonkian Parkway.  You curve down and to the right and then blend into Algonkian Parkway.
Follow Algonkian for about 2 miles and you will pass Potomac Falls High School on your left.
Turn left at the traffic light just past the High School onto Cascades Parkway.  Follow Cascades Parkway into Algonkian Park until it dead-ends at a stop sign. 
Turn left at the stop sign, cross the parking lot, and you will see the River and the boat launch.

Directions to Columbia Island 
George Washington Memorial Parkway
Arlington, Virginia

Columbia Island Marina is located on an island in the Potomac River, and you can reach it from the George Washington Memorial Parkway (which runs along the Potomac River on the Virginia side). This park is located north of Reagan National Airport, and is just south of the 395 bridge that passes over the Potomac River. It is very near the Pentagon building. You can turn into this park's driveway and parking lot no matter if you are driving north or south on the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

GETTING ON THE PARKWAY
The G.W. Memorial Parkway is accessible from all major travel routes including I-495, I-95, and I-66.

From Points South of Washington D.C.:
I

From Points North and East of Washington, D.C.
· Get onto I-495 [I-95] towards Alexandria VA. This is the "Inner Loop" of the Beltway.
· Right after you cross over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (over the Potomac River), take Exit 177C-B-A, turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards US-1 / Mt Vernon Highway
· Take Ramp (RIGHT) onto US-1 [S Patrick St] towards US-1 / Alexandria / Arlington
· Turn RIGHT (East) onto SR-236 [Duke St]
· Turn LEFT (North) onto (S) Washington St
· Keep STRAIGHT onto George Washington Memorial Parkway.
· You will pass Reagan National Airport on your right. Keep going straight. You will pass another park on your right (Gravelly Point). Get in the left lane.
· Columbia Island will be on your LEFT. You will see a sign showing you where to turn. Turn into the park, and park in the right side of the parking lot (but not in the "Trailer Only Section").

From Points Northwest of Washington, D.C.
If you are coming from western Maryland:
· Get onto 495 South towards Virginia
· Take Exit: "George Washington Memorial Parkway" and go south towards Washington. Keep RIGHT to stay on Ramp towards George Washington Memorial Pkwy
· Continue on the parkway for about 12 miles until you reach Columbia Island, on your RIGHT. You will see a sign showing you where to turn. Turn into the park, and park in the right side of the parking lot (but not in the "Trailer Only Section").

Directions to Truxton Park:

(From Baltimore take I-97 South or from Washington D.C. take US 50 East) From US 50, take exit 22 which is Aris T. Allen Blvd./MD 665. Stay straight on MD 665 (DO NOT bear to the right onto Riva Road). After about 1 mile the road name changes and becomes Forrest Drive eastbound. Stay straight on Forrest Drive and then take a left onto Hilltop Lane. Go straight until you see the tennis courts on the left. Bear to the left and follow the park road down to the water front.

Directions  to Truxton Park From The Comfort Inn:

 

·        Take Route 50 East to exit 22 Arris T Allen Boulevard.

·        Arris T Allen Boulevard becomes Forrest Drive.

·        Turn Left onto Hilltop Lane. (look for Sign for Truxton Park).

·        Turn Left onto Primrose Lane.  Once in Truxton Park you will see a parking area on your left.  The boat launch is just down the hill.

 

 

Directions  to Chesapeake Bay Foundation From The Comfort Inn:

 

·        Take Route 50 East to exit 22 Arris T Allen Boulevard.

·        Arris T Allen Boulevard becomes Forrest Drive.

·        Forrest Drive becomes Bay Ridge Rd.

·        Turn Right onto Herndon Ave.

·        Turn Right into CBF. 



  Belle Haven Marina


Directions from D.C., Arlington or Maryland (North of D.C.):

  • Cross Potomac River (only if coming from DC or MD) and take GW Parkway south (toward National Airport).
  • Go Past National Airport and into Old Town Alexandria. GW Parkway becomes Washington Street in Alexandria. Stay on it.
  • After approximately 2 miles, Washington Street becomes the GW Parkway again (you will see the river on the left).
  • Go 1 mile and make a left into Belle Haven Marina (the sign is on the right, but you turn left).

Directions from Beltway

  • From the Beltway take Route 1 South. Stay in the right lane and follow the signs for Ft. Hunt Road.
  • At the end of the golf course, turn left onto Belle Haven Road (Stop light).
  • Follow to end (stop sign) and turn right on the GW Parkway (Mt. Vernon Highway). Make first left (100 yards) into Belle Haven Park, proceed straight to marina.
RIVER BEND PARK

From the Beltway: take exit 44 Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west 4.5 miles to a right on River Bend Road for 2.2 miles to a right on Jeffery Road. Proceed one mile to the Visitor Center entrance, 1 ½ miles to the Nature Center entrance.

From Tysons Corner: take Route 7 west to a right on International Drive 2.8 miles to a left on Old Dominion Drive to a left on Georgetown Pike (Route 193). Take a right on River Bend Road and continue 2.2 miles to a right on Jeffery Road. Proceed one mile to the Visitor Center entrance, 1 ½ miles to the Nature Center entrance.

From Reston: take Baron Cameron Road east the road becomes Springvale Road to a right on Georgetown Pike to a left on River Bend Road 2.2 miles to a right on Jeffery Road. Proceed one mile to the Visitor Center entrance, 1 ½ miles to the Nature Center entrance.

From Sterling: take Route 7 east to a left on Georgetown Pike (Route 193) approximately 5 miles to a left on River Bend Road 2.2 miles to a right on Jeffery Road. Proceed one mile to the Visitor Center entrance, 1 ½ miles to the Nature Center entrance.
